About LV Burns (aka Diego2Memphis)
Hello. I am LV Burns. My hair was relaxed for over 20 years before I decided that enough was enough. I received my last relaxer in May 2005. I chopped all the relaxer off in July 2005. My hair is now 100% naturally nappy!
I started this website to document my hair journey. Looking at other natural women’s hair albums helped me decide to take the plunge and cut the relaxer out of my hair. I wanted to return the favor to someone else. I’m hoping that someone who is still undecided about whether or not to go natural will run across this website and see something that inspires them to let go of society’s standard of beauty and get in touch with God’s standard of beauty.
Who am I as a person? Well, I’m a wife, mother, daughter, and older sister among other things. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for almost a decade. I am the proud mom of a son, who I’m currently homeschooling, and a daughter.
Originally from Vallejo, CA, I graduated from San Diego State University in 1998 with a BA in Psychology and again in 2001 with a MSW (Master in Social Work degree). I lived in San Diego CA for 11 years before relocating to Memphis TN (thus the name Diego 2 Memphis). Please read more about the beginning of my journey here: First Steps in My Natural Hair Journey and an overview of the beginning of my journey here: Journey Through the Lengths
Hey. I am Coco. I am real, not religious. I am currently surviving a separation. I am fertility challenged but not giving up. I am an all natural woman. I started my journey to naturalness in 2005. I had my last relaxer in August 2005. I transitioned for a year by getting my hair pressed every two weeks. I chopped off what was left of my relaxed hair on December 23, 2006. I wore my hair natural for 3 years then had a temporary lapse in judgment and in March of 2009 I messed around and relaxer my hair again. With the return of all the breakage and dandruff I hadn’t seen in 3 years I realized it wasn’t such a good idea and refused to put relaxer on my hair again. I transitioned for about 6 months and chopped it off again September 19, 2009 and I am continuing my journey through naturalness today.
